Directory of Open Source Plug ins to CD

Dec 29, 2006 9:15am

Hi all. Just created this so it will take some collaborative teamwork effort to develop this resource. Feel feel to jump in and participate/contribute. Here's a  couple of good places to start -  SourceForge and OpenSource

P.S. - As a matter of interest, I recently came across this software called Mind Manager. Maybe the CD team may want to consider developng some kind of integration here, similar to Salesforce. What's your take?

Regards,

Earl Rudolfo

I'd support any links with MindManager - it's a great program

So would we. InterNetworks specialise in collaboration and uses MindManager extensively for all interactions with collaboration partners. We are also using MindManager to manage, share and capture discussions in teleconference / webinars. Of late we have been experimenting with CD Live. It would be good to have an in-built map reader to enable users to view maps stored in CD. At present we have to convert to PDFs to enable them to be viewed. Cheers Mike Parry

Right now the best way (and the only way I know of) to colloborate with Mind Manager is by using the tool from Team Direction via either SharePoint or Groove, other than realtime collaboration via a live meeting. It does a very good job except that not all the necessary fields gets updated back into Mind Manager. As far as reading the maps, yes, that would be great to be able to view those from within CD by default. For now, can just use the mind manager reader for those that do not have the application. Of course this is just a one-way process. Since MM really doesn't have any collaboration features we have only used for the initial project details and to show client a clear view of the scope. When the client signs off the project gets inserted into our PM tool. How great it would be to be able to use Mind Manager as a collaborative PM tool. If we did not require giving access to many external users, Team Direction Mind Manager would be great. But as it is now, it is really only realistic for a project team w/out external access - would be too expensive to pay for a new license for each external member. If CD was able to integrate MM as a collaboratioin tool, then it really wouldn't be CD anymore. The MM capability would surpass the current layout of tasks, etc. It would be a completely different app. Personally, I don't envision them focusing on this feature. But I'd be curious to know their thoughts on this.

How about FreeMind which is opensource and needs only Java. WikkaWikki features freemind e.g.: http://wikkawiki.org/FreeMind -Raj

Hmmm Raj, Looks interesting. Maybe something for CD to look at integrating. Earl

Also has success with having the bubbl.us flash map within a CD page using the iframe tags. It generates the code for you. Try it. http://bubbl.us/ (basic features for now) -Raj

Freemind integration would be far nicer than MindJet - and more in keeping with the style of CD......

The new SAAS app Mindomo.com works great. It has a great interface and can be embedded into CD or any webpage. Currently when you embed a basic free mindmap, it even shows up without the adverts.
